In deep mourning the Rhein-Ruhr-DX-Association has to announce that their former chairman Hans-Juergen Bartels, DL1YFF, has become silent key. On June 16th, 2015 we lost a highly recognized and always helpful radio amateur much too early at the age of 71.

With his comprehensive knowledge and his spontaneous readiness to help as well as by his participation in numerous DX-peditions (e.g. in Uganda, Sierra Leone, Congo, Lesotho, Botswana, Tanzania, Zaire, Bonaire, Haiti, Revilla Gigedo and Bangladesh) Hans-Juergen has contributed a great share in international understanding and to the amateur radio DX-world. He was always open-minded and prepared to help people in distress. Until 2005 he was on the board of the German Amateur Radio Club, DARC,and from 2008 till 2014 he was in the chair of the Rhein-Ruhr-DX-Association that he represented in the German “Round Table Amateur Radio”, RTA,  until his last days.

With Hans-Juergen Bartels, DL1YFF, we have lost a most valuable radio friend and a dedicated connoisseur of the African continent. The Rhein-Ruhr-DX-Association will honour his memory forever.

“May you rest in peace, Hajue.”
